The Rosandra (in slovenian Glinšcica) is one of the triestino rivers. It gushes out at the height of 412 metres, just across the Slovenian border and flows then interely through the council of San Dorligo della Valle in a fantastic canyon called Val Rosandra. It ends up in the bay of Muggia. Although the river is only two and a half km, the valley is very interesting under many points of view.

According to the Slovenian version (Glinšcica) the river is 15 km long and rises near San Pietro di Madrasso (Klanec pri Kozini), as its upper part is called in Italian torrente Botazzo, by the name of the homonimous village near San Dorligo della Valle, where as it enters Italy, at the height of 187 mt and meets the torrent Grisa (Grižnik).

A little uphill of Botazzo the Rosandra collects the waters of the Blood Torrent (Krvavi potok), whereas just downhill of the village forms a fall of several metres, ending up in a small lake among the rocks.

The Val Rosandra, one of the most beloved places of the triestino hikers, after centuries of History is no longer a way of passage, neither an aqueduct to the city, nor a commercial route or local or imperial railroad.

It became an oasis reserved to the lovers of Nature. Few kilometres away from the city noise, here one can dip in an uncontaminated environment walking step by step along the path in the valley floor or along the abandoned railroad line.
